Rally Festival 2023

Background

Assembled Live, the team behind GALA, collaborated with Bird On The Wire to create RALLY. This was a brand new festival inspired by DIY culture and grassroots movements, celebrating London’s music and arts communities, and taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Southwark Park.

Having produced GALA since 2017 – and bringing the festival back to Peckham Rye for a sold-out, three-day event over May Bank Holiday – The Fair was requested to bring RALLY to life, and trusted to encompass the essence of the event, along with its values.

Challenge

  • Safely lighting the site and enabling vehicles to deliver to site without disturbing local wildlife, nature and historic landmarks.
  • Constant monitoring of the weather due to storm warnings.
  • Southwark Park’s northern space hadn’t hosted a festival for years, and a festival held in the Southern section had upset residents the year previously. This meant residents were wary of RALLY, and community engagement was key.
  • An avid bowling club community was housed in the centre of site, and members were keen to continue playing throughout the build.
