Background

“GALA is a community-driven festival born from a love of the organic, warm and soulful sounds dance music was built on. We celebrate the originators and innovators who defined club culture and champion artists who embody and push forward their legacy.” – GALA Festival, 2023.

The Fair has been working with the GALA team since the festival launched in 2016 – managing full-scale festival production throughout the duration of the build, live and break each year.

2023 was the eighth edition of the event and its fifth year in Peckham, taking place over the spring bank holiday weekend.

With a line up including the likes of Kerri Chandler, Overmono, Call Super, Bradley Zero, Hunee, Yung Singh, SHERELLE and Yu Su, it is no surprise that this festival was a sell out across the three days.

As always, The Fair team worked day and night to make this a truly miraculous weekend for all those joining the party.

Challenge

Weather: preparing for potential poor conditions after a few very rainy months and ensuring contingencies were in place.
Community Engagement: maintaining a good relationship with all stakeholders and working hard to resolve any issues.
Capacity: Developing our egress plans to account for large crowds staying for one of the biggest headline moments of the show’s history, Overmono.
