The Fair, Placemaking and OPS deliver Live Table-Top Session at Event Production Show

The FairWe Are Placemaking and We Are OPS kicked off Day 1 at the Event Production Show with a jam-packed panel on the Knowledge Hub, about ‘Dealing with Disaster on a Festival Site: Live Table-Top Session’…

Whether it be rail strikes, lightning storms, crowd control or medical emergencies – ‘major incidents’ are becoming increasingly common at events across the industry, which is why it is now more important than ever that we are best prepared to deal with them.

We Group’s real-life Table Top session put audience members’ knowledge and ability to the test, with ‘disaster’ scenarios that could happen at any given event.

Attendees heard first-hand from members of We Group’s event production teams, who have dealt with such ‘major incidents’ on site.

Listeners left with expert advice on how to prepare for the worst in advance, and deal with it when it arrives.

Some key takeaways:

  • Having a tabletop exercise and contingency plan is crucial for handling onsite disasters efficiently – always plan for the worst.
  • Regularly checking in with the client on changes or updates ensures smooth communication and preparedness.
  • In any situation, people’s safety is always a priority.

We were so pleased to have a full house in the audience, with many staying after the session to follow up on key topics discussed. Sharing knowledge will ultimately create a stronger events industry, which we’re keen to push in 2025.
