Summer Social 2021

Background

A returning event for WATF, Summer Social is a multi-purpose festival that includes sports, lifestyle and music. Based in London’s Richmond Athlete’s Ground & Old Deer Park. Audiences from around the city came together for a day of rugby, netball and CrossFit tournaments, food and drinks, ending on a party with local London based DJ’s. The Fair were asked to provide Production and Health & Safety support.

Challenge

As with most events in 2021, the backlash of the pandemic and leaving the EU caused issues with the supply chain. Regular suppliers were unable to provide kits or had to change schedules due to driver shortages. Some other challenges faced included:

Manging 2 separate sites.
Ensuring Old Deer Park was swept and clear as soon as tournaments were over and before dark.
Working with Athletics club scheduling during the build as the club still held their weekday sporting fixtures.
Completing the de-rig in 2days.
