Summer Social 2022

Background

2022 saw WATF’s 5th year working with the Summer Social team. The event is a multi-purpose festival that includes sports, lifestyle and music. Held in Richmond Athlete’s Ground & Old Deer Park, the grounds are taken over by 8000 people part taking in Rugby, Netball and CrossFit tournaments. 2022 also saw the return of the F45 Playoff, seeing teams all over the UK competing. The Fair was asked to provide full Production, Operations & Health & Safety support.

Challenge

Working in the heat is never easy for anyone, but trying to work within a tight schedule on a site with limited shade. The team needed regular breaks in the shade, ensuring all are kept hydrated and working around peak high temperature times. Some other challenges faced included:

Managing operations, such as crowd management and safety across 2 sites at the same time
Building a new Main stage, whilst still keeping to a similar site layout to previous years
Working with a number of sponsors and keeping to all their requirements and needs
Completing the de-rig in 2 days
