NTS: ‘One Day’ Festival 2023

Background

“Introducing One Day, a full day of music from NTS taking place on Saturday 27th May at Burgess Park, bringing together an eclectic line-up across two stages.” – NTS, Resident Advisor.

One Day was the first time NTS, the London born-and-based radio station, opted to create a festival for their loyal and large following, inviting ethereal jazz act Nala Sinephro, Detroit royalty in the form of Theo Parrish, and Baltimore massive, JPEGMAFIA, amongst a whole spectrum of other sounds.

NTS, which broadcasts music from over 50 cities across the world, trusted none other than festival production company The Fair to bring its first ever festival to life – providing a full festival production service, as well as operations and health and safety via our sister agency, We Are OPS.

Challenge

  • Burgess Park had not housed a festival for some years, and The Fair had not yet worked in this space before
  • Producing a brand new festival also brought about fresh challenges, including community engagement with surrounding residents who were not used to events taking place in the area
  • Planning permissions and delays due to the Queen’s funeral meant the team only had four days to build festival
  • Multiple shows were taking place in London that weekend, meaning police resources were tight, and rigorous management of the site, as well as multiple egress route plans, were vital
