Maiden Voyage 2024

Background

2024 marked the 5^th edition of Maiden Voyage festival, taking place at Burgess Park in South London. An eclectic mix of artists featured on this festival edition, including the likes of Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist Arca, Grammy-nominated producer Jayda G, Mall Grab, ‘The Wizard’ and Underworld Resistance member Jeff Mills, and rounded off nicely with Palms Trax. In addition, a strong collaboration with collectives Pxssy Palace, Live from Earth, and Adonis as stage hosts confirmed this instalment of the Maiden Voyage as one to remember.

Wrapping up the festival season superbly, our team delivered 360 production services from start to finish whilst undertaking a site move from North London to South London, with the support of sister agency We Are OPS, who delivered seamless health and safety and operational needs.

Challenge

Site Constraints – with new homes come new challenges, and whilst the overall outcome of the show was a success, the new venue offered less space compared to Lee Valley Showground. This required the team to be highly creative and resourceful regarding site layout and design. Ensuring the festival experience remained seamless for 15,000 attendees while working within these spatial constraints was vital.
New trees – Burgess Park had recently undergone new tree planting, which demanded careful planning and consideration. The Fair had to strictly monitor vehicle access and ensure infrastructure was placed without damaging the park’s natural environment.

Up to 15,000 thousand happy festival goers
Local businesses used, including Mary’s café, for crew catering
Community engagement, including youth workshops, a mentoring scheme and a dedicated hotline.
Successfully introduced the Maiden Voyage brand to Burgess Park
Increased the footprint of the site, allowing us to increase the capacity of the site from 10,000 to 15,000, as well as the addition of two stages
Money raised for charities, including Spring Community Hub and Outrunners
