GALA 2022

Background

GALA is a three-day independent music, culture and arts festival which showcases the best food, drink and music from South East London and the surrounding areas. GALA launched in 2016 at Brockwell Park. This year was the seventh edition of the event and its fourth year in Peckham. The event took place over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend in 2022.

The Fair has been working with GALA since 2016 and manages production, operations and health & safety each year.

Challenge

  • Being on the same weekend as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee meant a lack of infrastructure and staffing due to the number of other events taking place in London
  • Planning for the event to move and then having to relocate to the original location just six weeks before the show due to rescheduled flood alleviation works on the park
  • Obtaining a new licence in perpetuity for the park
  • A brand new stage design and several new installations around the site
