Eastern Electrics returned in 2024 for its 11th edition, with its fourth year at Lee Valley Showground. This annual event is a staple of the house and techno scene, with artists including Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Kerri Chandler & Nightmares on Wax. This year, the event partnered with notable club night brands like Labyrinth and Disco Disco, creating a diverse experience for attendees.
Since 2017, The Fair has provided full festival production services, including, but not limited to, site design, supplier procurement and management, budget management, and SAG liaison.
Overhead powerlines: Lee Valley Showground has overhead powerlines and pylons running through and above the site. Having undertaken a slight site redesign – which included extending our footprint, increasing the size of one of the stages and moving our main stage plus additional infrastructure – the team had to consider site risk assessments and health and safety measures, as well as those of our suppliers, when building close to and under the lines. On-site, we took extra care to ensure we could manage potential hazards and meet regulations by following our risk assessments and initiating a work area permit.
Weather Conditions: During the festival’s build phase, we were met with strong winds. Those working as height had to temporarily halt until we were satisfied that we work could continue safely. Careful management of the build schedule meant that although delayed, we weren’t running too far behind our schedule.
New stages: Building two newly designed stages in an area of the showground we hadn’t used before came with its own challenges, such as unknown ground conditions and how this would hold up in differing weather. Despite these challenges, the build was managed safely and successfully.
