Holi Festival of Colours 2018

Background

Holi Festival of Colours began in 2012 in Berlin, Dresden, Hannover and Munich. A never before seen collective feeling of euphoria and togetherness spread as a colourful cloud across Germany in the summer of 2012. The First ever Holi Festival Of Colours in Europe was held in Berlin and helped create an indescribable atmosphere on an unforgettable day. The Facebook community began to grow, the media interest was enormous and the spirit of the Festival was carried through Germany and grew in to the rest of Europe from there.

The Fair have produced Holi Festival of Colours in Wembley for the two years previous, but for 2018 the show was required to move venues.

Challenge

The venue finding team were tasked with sourcing a new location for the 2018 show which would cater for up to 10,000 festival goers including stage, food traders and bars.

The team successfully sourced a new venue for the festival in Lee Valley Park, which was located next to a nature reserve. The production team needed to work with the Council to ensure that the build, break and live of the festival caused minimal interference or damage to the wildlife and grounds.
